If you do not have any suitable photo ID documents confirming your identity for a professional to verify, you have two options:
- use the eVisa Check route (online application only)
If you are an immigrant with your status recorded online by the UK Home Office, you can verify your identity using the eVisa Check route. This requires generating and submitting a share code for your eVisa. - use non-photographic ID with a referee
If you do not qualify for the eVisa Check route, you can use non-photographic ID documents alongside a referee who knows you personally.
Referees confirming against original document(s) (also called Route 1) are professionals, who need to see and check an original document confirming your identity, such as Birth Certificate or Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS), and be able to be contacted at their workplace directly via their registered business contact information.
For more details on acceptable referees and document options in this scenario, please visit the Referees confirming against original document(s) page and refer to the section covering documents accepted when the referee knows you personally.
If you do not have any acceptable original documents, you will need a referee confirming from official records.
