Shadow Chancellor urges licensees to accept CitizenCards as valid ID

19 March 2012

In the run up to this week's Budget Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has plenty on his plate. But speaking at the Wigan Labour Gala Dinner on Friday 9th March 2012 Rt Hon Ed Balls, MP for Morley & Outwood, reassured CitizenCard's Marketing Manager Nigel Catlow that he fully supported CitizenCard and other PASS cards as a cost-effective and straightforward proof of age/ID for young adults.

Ed Balls joined Makerfield MP Yvonne Fovargue, Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd and Wigan MP Lisa Nandy in agreeing to promote CitizenCard in their constituencies. He added that since the Coalition had binned national ID cards the Government had a particular responsibility to ensure PASS cards were promoted to young adults and accepted throughout the licensed trade.
